Coupling Parallel Data and Work Partitioners to VFCS

چکیده
A signiicant amount of software research for developing programming environments for distributed{memory systems (DMSs) is currently underway in both aca-demia as well as industry. This paper addresses the automatic parallelization of irregular codes for DMSs. We present the language constructs provided by Vienna Fortran to deal eeciently with irregular codes. They have been implemented within the Vienna Fortran Compilation System. This system also provides an interactive interface which enables the user to direct the system to derive data and work distributions automatically according to a selected strategy. The description of these advanced features is the main concern of the paper.

On Using Volume Computation to Estimate the Work Distribution for Parallel Programs
In this paper we describe a performance parameter which models the work contained in a parallel program and the corresponding work distribution. The work distribution is modeled at the program level which carefully distinguishes between useful and redundant work. We achieve high accuracy due to aggressive exploitation of compiler knowledge such as loop iteration spaces, array access patterns an...
متن کاملParallel static and dynamic multi-constraint graph partitioning
Sequential multi-constraint graph partitioners have been developed to address the static load balancing requirements of multi-phase simulations. These work well when (i) the graph that models the computation fits into the memory of a single processor, and (ii) the simulation does not require dynamic load balancing. The efficient execution of very large or dynamically adapting multi-phase simula...
متن کاملParallel Dynamic Graph Partitioning for Adaptive Unstructured Meshes
A parallel method for the dynamic partitioning of unstructured meshes is described. The method introduces a new iterative optimization technique known as relative gain optimization which both balances the workload and attempts to minimize the interprocessor communications overhead. Experiments on a series of adaptively refined meshes indicate that the algorithm provides partitions of an equival...
متن کاملAdopting and sustaining a Virtual Fracture Clinic model in the District Hospital setting – a quality improvement approach
Virtual Fracture Clinics (VFCs) are an alternative to the conventional fracture clinics, to manage certain musculoskeletal injuries. This has recently been reported as a safe, cost-effective and efficient care model. As demonstrated at vanguard sites in the United Kingdom, VFCs can enhance patient care by standardising treatment and reducing outpatient appointments. This project demonstrates ho...
